Our practice specializes in the treatment of thyroid-related issues. Learn more about our services related to thyroid health here.
OSTEOPOROSIS
The parathyroid gland controls the amount of calcium in the body. Irregularities in the function of this gland can cause calcium deficiencies, which can lead to conditions such as osteoporosis. Those with osteoporosis are considered at greater risk for breakage of bones.
Our endocrinology practice specializes in helping patients with issues related to the parathyroid and calcium issues.
ADRENAL GLAND HEALTH
The adrenal glands are located above the kidneys. They produce hormones that regulate your metabolism, blood pressure and stress response. Hormones produced by the adrenal gland include adrenaline and cortisol, which is the body's primary stress hormone. Adrenal function also includes production of hormones that regulate reproductive functions.
Common conditions that can affect function of the adrenal gland include:
- Addison's disease - the body does not produce enough cortisol and other hormones
- Cushing's syndrome - this occurs when cortisol levels are elevated
- Tumors - growths on the adrenal gland can affect the amount of hormone that is produced
Our practice assists those with diagnosis and treatment issues related to the adrenal gland.
