Maury Regional Medical Center recognized for quality heart care

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) has attained designation as a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care® by BlueCross BlueShield. The designation recognizes a commitment to quality care, resulting in better overall outcomes for cardiac patients.

“The Blue Distinction® Center for Cardiac Care recognizes that the full range of heart care services offered by MRMC meet stringent quality measures, allowing our patients to have better outcomes,” said Administrative Director of Cardiovascular Services Cathy Malone.

According to BlueCross BlueShield, the goal of the Blue Distinction® Center designation is to help patients find quality specialty care. To be considered, medical facilities must submit clinical data establishing that they meet objective, evidence-based thresholds for clinical quality.

Each facility meets stringent clinical criteria, developed in collaboration with expert physicians' and medical organizations' recommendations, including the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and is subject to periodic reevaluation as criteria continue to evolve.

“We are pleased to have been recognized by BlueCross BlueShield for the quality heart care that our cardiologists and staff members provide to our patients,” said CEO Alan Watson.

MRMC provides a comprehensive range of cardiac services from interventional procedures to a partnership with Vanderbilt Heart to provide cardiothoracic surgery. MRMC was named one of the nation's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Thomson Reuters in November 2011.
